Last updated 14 October 2026. This explains, in plain words, what happens to your information when you use My English Interview, an app that helps you prepare for job interviews.
Who is responsible: PAIYPER LTD, 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom ("we"), company number 15745694. Contact: hello@myenglishinterview.com. We follow UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Your CV text, your stories, the jobs you add, your questions and answers, your settings, and any practice recordings of your own voice are stored only on your phone, or in your browser if you use the website. We cannot see them. Deleting the app, clearing the website's data in your browser, or using "Delete all my data" in Settings, removes them.
In a practice interview, the app follows your own voice as you read your answer, so the words can light up as you say them and we can show which words to practise. To do this quickly, your own voice is turned into text by your browser's or phone's speech service (in Chrome this is Google's), under that company's terms. Only your own voice is used, only while you are practising, and we do not store the audio. The text of your attempt is sent to our server for feedback, as described below.
On the website you can share a browser tab so the app can hear the interviewer. The speech-to-text model is downloaded to your browser and runs on your computer. The audio is never recorded, saved or sent to us or anyone else, and listening stops when you stop sharing. Please check that listening is allowed in your interview.
When you tap Listen, your phone turns what it hears into text using the speech recognition built into your phone. We only allow this when your phone can do it without sending audio anywhere. The audio is never recorded or saved, the text is kept in memory only, and both are gone when you stop listening. Nothing you hear in Live mode is sent to us or anyone else. Please check that listening is allowed in your interview.
You can find an answer by holding a button and saying the question yourself, and you can practise answers out loud. On phones that can turn speech into text by themselves, this stays on the phone. On phones that cannot (for example Android 12 and older), and on the website in browsers that offer it (such as Chrome), the phone's or browser's own online speech service, such as Google's, turns your voice into text under that company's terms. On the website, if the browser has no such service, our speech model runs inside your browser and nothing is sent. Only your own voice is used this way, and only while you hold the button or practise. The interviewer's voice is never sent anywhere: automatic listening only runs on phones that can keep it on the device.
Only when you ask the app to write or check something, it sends the text needed for that task to our server, which passes it to an AI service and returns the result:
Our server does not store this text. It keeps only counters of how many requests, and how much AI use, a random install number has had, so free and fair-use limits work. That number is created on your device and is not linked to your name, email or phone number. We do not ask for an account.
If you sign in (optional, to keep Pro on all your devices), we store your email address and the install numbers of the devices you signed in on, and we use a sign-in service (Resend) to email you a code. We use your email only for signing in and for messages about your account or purchase. Sign out on a device to unlink it, or email us to delete your account.
We also keep a simple activity log for each install number for 90 days: the time and the type of each action (for example "built an answer", "opened interview mode", "saw the Get Pro screen"). It never contains anything you wrote. We use it to understand how the app is used, to fix problems and to support you.
Legal basis: we process this text to provide the service you asked for (contract). We keep usage counters and the activity log for our legitimate interest in preventing abuse, running free and paid plans, and improving the app.
The app itself uses no cookies. On two pages of our website only, the home page and the page you see after paying, we ask whether you accept cookies that tell us which of our Google adverts brought you to us. If you say no, or say nothing, the Google tag is not loaded at all. If you say yes, Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd) sets cookies so we can count visits that came from an advert and sales that followed. We do not use them to show you personalised adverts, and we never sell your data. You can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the home page.
Some of these companies are outside the UK. They process data under contracts with appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
You can ask us for a copy of data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Because we store no content and no account, in practice the only data we hold is the usage counters and, if you subscribe, purchase records linked to your install number (held by RevenueCat and Stripe for us). Contact hello@myenglishinterview.com.
My English Interview is for job seekers and is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
